Title: Enabling Discovery: Mass Spectrometry and Precision Biomolecular Characterization in Columbia’s Chemistry Core Facilities
Description:
Jerry Chang, PhD, Manager of the Precision Biomolecular Characterization Facility (PBCF), will provide an overview of advanced instrumentation supporting a wide range of applications. PBCF offers expertise in molecular and structural characterization, from routine purification to high-resolution analyses such as crystallography, biophysical measurements, and advanced microscopy.
Fereshteh Zandkarimi, PhD, Manager of the Mass Spectrometry Core Facility, will highlight services supporting both discovery-based and targeted metabolomic and lipidomic analyses, as well as mass spectrometry imaging for spatial distribution and localization of molecules within tissues. Utilizing state-of-the-art MS instrumentation and software, the Core enables comprehensive qualitative and quantitative workflows, including biomarker discovery, drug quantification such as pharmacokinetic (PK) studies, and metabolic pathway analysis.
