Seminar Title: Modernizing strategies for measles and rubella in the era of elimination and resurgence

Abstract: Progress towards the goals of measles and rubella eradication has stalled, and even reversed, over recent years. In the decades since these viruses were common in the US, we have gained new understanding of the role of local epidemiology in their persistence in the face of global vaccination efforts. Comparative analyses across contemporary settings have highlighted both operational, policy, and epidemiological barriers to elimination and eradication. I will discuss current and evolving strategies for measles and rubella control in light of recent advances globally, despite backsliding locally.
