A Forum on University Governance
In March 2026, the University Senate is hosting A Forum on University Governance. The first Forum was held on March 26, and the Forum will be repeated on March 31 at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center. The forum will explore:
- What Would It Mean to “Democratize” a University? David Pozen, Charles Keller Beekman Professor of Law, Columbia Law School
- Democratizing Governance at Columbia; Starting from the Top: Jean Howard, George Delacorte Professor Emerita in the Humanities and Member, AAUP Executive Committee
- Shared Governance: Sen. Jeanine D’Armiento, Professor of Medicine in Anesthesiology and Chair of the Executive Committee of the University Senate, and Sen. Joseph Slaughter, Associate Professor of English and Comparative Literature
This discussion will be introduced and moderated by:
- Sen. Elizabeth Adeoye, Student, Columbia College and Co-Chair, External Relations and Research Policy Committee, and
- Sen. John Santelli, Professor of Population and Family Health and Pediatrics, School of Public Health, and Co-Chair, External Relations and Research Policy Committee.
The Forum will be repeated on March 31, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the Alumni Auditorium, Black Building, at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center. This session will be open to current CUID holders and alumni.
